Peace This bowl is filled with silver pinecones, white frosty branches, silver and blue ornaments and a bit of Peace all rolled into one |
Snowmen playing peekaboo
Do you remember those candlesticks? They are from the PB knockoffs,
I wrapped the candles in sheer glittery ribbon and placed them with the
ice looking angel (she illuminates different colors, softly)
The tray is filled with silver and powder blue Christmas ornaments from my favorite
Dollar Store, with silver pine cones tucked inside, drizzled with old fashioned "rain"
that is normally used for decorating your Christmas Tree, a few curly ribbons and
a few dashes of white and silver glitter that shine perfectly when the light touches each piece.
Oh Christmas Tree, victorian christmas tree... I bought this little tree at a yard sale complete with lights and decorations for $1.00...Who else thinks of Christmas in mid June??? I added the beads and a few little roses and it is more beautiful... I wanted to add a bit of charm and interest to the tree so I decided to wrap empty boxes, well, they were "OK" but, there weren't any that were small enough...9 year olds aren't around for homework and chores only... ( ha ha) I borrowed a few legos, stacked a few, and wrapped a few to give us more shapes of gifts... Pretty Clever, she said... :)
The sleigh was a yard sale find for $.25, yep, the same June yard sale. I filled it with the white feather tree, added gold ornament balls, covered the bottom of the sleigh and the bottom of the tree with a burgundy cloth napkin, hand made snowflakes from that same 9 yr old, gold curly ribbon and a few more gold ornament balls...Oh...the 9 yr old is in the background on the left...on the right is the 17 yr old. Shhhhhhhhhh...see if they notice.
The theme for the bow windows ledge is, of all things, winter wonderland...I have blue lights under the white glittery cotton, a Santa helping a little girl ice skate (from my collection) a pair of faux ice skates, that have BELIEVE written on them in glittery letters, another Santa building a snowman and a sled with a snowman titled....Let it Snow...
Up close and personal with the sled, snowman, santa and skates...
Please dont mind the wall paper, we moved in this June and are still winterizing things so the refinishing of the powder room isn't high on the list yet.
That June yard sale was a hit for me...did I mention I wasn't even going to stop at it???
I got the apothecary bell jar for $.10, yes, I did say $.10...
The theme in our powder room was Nature and the Outdoors, so I put greens a pinecone and a red bell in the jar... The Noel sign is a buy from The Christmas Tree Shop...Oh how I LOVE that store!!!!
The powder room continues...as you can see I have attempted the room with the blue tape...I should have colored it green to match..drats!!! I added a candle ring to the soap dispenser, a Yankee Candle small pinecone dish and shade another one of my Santas...and Frosty in the back basket with eucalyptus and pips...
on the other side of the bathroom sink is the Nature lovin' Merry Christmas sign, pinecones and greens in the toothbrush and cup holder and Mr. Snowman with a birdhouse
The Peace on Earth sign is left up all year long...the cross stich Santa and victorian little girl was a very touching gift from a co- worker, many years ago, and the mistletoe... My little one (9) took a picture of the mistletoe...I asked her why she did that and she said, if I ever wanted to kiss Daddy I would just show the picture on the camera and put it over his head... She is such a sweetheart and is always thinking...
The family room is decorated in Americana style and the snowman fit perfectly on the perch of the birdhouse.
The angel in the vestibule, she was meant to be a tree top, But I don't always use things for the purpose intended, so I put her on the shelf, added greens, a gold curly ribbon, minature versions of "Hark the Herald Angels Sing" and a few bells...
Across the way is a glittery gold wire tree with vintage angels surrounding it... a Peace on Earth slate and 2 gold bows
My husband started collecting Nutcrackers a few years back and we have a few, the one on the left is from the Rockettes show in NYC, the one on the right is from Disney...
These 2 guys were gifts through the years with many more, however, with just moving in June, a flood in the fall, we are sure if we haven't found the rest of them or lost them in the flood... Let's hope there here somewhere
That is a bit of our decorating this year, 2010 and I hope to have more for you soon.
I'd like to start working on Valentine's Day, but I am just learning Blogging and as you can see, I am not very fast at postings.
Thank you so very much for visting me and I hope to see you soon.
